Your home is personal. So are the details you share with us. This notice explains what happens when you visit peterhandyman.ie or contact Peter about a job.
Who looks after your data?
Piotr Tymosz, trading as Peter Handyman, is the controller of information used to answer enquiries and provide home and garden services in Galway and Mayo, Ireland. For privacy questions or requests, email piotrym1975@gmail.com or call +353 87 153 2027.
When you ask for a quote
You may provide your name, telephone number, address or Eircode, service requested, job description and any photos you choose to send. We use these details to respond, prepare a quote, arrange visits and carry out agreed work. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract and performing a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Accounting records are kept where required by law (Article 6(1)(c)); protecting our business and handling disputes may rely on legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).
The website form prepares a WhatsApp message in your browser. Its contents are not submitted to a website database. Choosing “Continue in WhatsApp” passes the prepared message to WhatsApp; you then review it and choose whether to send it to Peter. Please avoid including sensitive information or photos of other people unless necessary and appropriate.
Website visits
Our hosting server processes technical data such as IP address, requested page, date and time, browser information, response status and, where sent by your browser, a referring page. We use server logs to operate and secure the website and diagnose faults, based on legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)). This site does not use advertising pixels, analytics trackers, embedded maps or embedded social-media feeds. Fonts, photographs and videos are served from our own website.
Cookies, browser storage & caching
We use local storage, a browser technology similar to cookies. Optional language memory is off until you accept it. Rejecting it does not prevent you from using the site or switching languages for the current visit.
| Storage item | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| peter-privacy-v1 | Necessary: remembers whether you allowed language preferences, with a timestamp and notice version. | Up to 180 days; checked on return visits. |
| peter-language | Optional: remembers EN or PL after you accept preferences. | Used only while your permission is valid; removed on rejection or the next visit after expiry. |
Click to change your choice or withdraw permission at any time. Browser settings can also clear stored website data. Normal browser caching may keep copies of images, fonts and other public files to load pages efficiently; it is not used to track you. There is no separate advertising or analytics consent because we do not use those tools.
Who receives information?
Our hosting and technical support providers may process technical information to keep the website running under our instructions. Peter uses email, telephone and WhatsApp to handle your enquiries. Following a WhatsApp link or emailing us involves those providers and their own privacy practices. See WhatsApp’s EEA privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy. Those services may process data outside the EEA using applicable transfer safeguards, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses. We do not sell your details or use them for automated decisions or profiling.
How long do we keep it?
Enquiry information is kept for the time needed to answer your request, follow up a quote and resolve any outstanding questions. If no work goes ahead and there is no outstanding issue or legal reason to keep it, the information is deleted when it is no longer needed for those purposes. Tax records are retained for six years as required by Irish Revenue. Other records of completed work are kept for as long as needed to fulfil contractual duties or establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Website access logs are rotated daily and retained for up to 14 rotations. You can ask about information held in your case.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. Contact Peter using the details above; we normally respond within one month and may need to verify your identity. You may also complain to Ireland’s Data Protection Commission.
Keeping this notice current
If our website or the way we use information changes, we will update this page and seek fresh consent where required.
